Default changing vt exhaust in driveway

hey guys, just wondering how much of a mindf**k im in for when i try to change the cat back part of my exhaust next week in my drive way,

i have the tools nescasary (as far as i know), a jack and the willingness to do it, just haven't changed an exhaust while having to lay flat on my back while squeezing under a vehicle

yeah, probly should invest in some jack stands,, the amount of times i've been completely under a vehicle without them is kinda scary, one day is gonna be an unlucky one

cat-back is simple. as said just a couple of bolts at the cat flange and unhook it from the rubbers.

Yep. Easy job man. Unbolt old, pull out, put new in, bolt up. Done. I done the cat back exhaust on my old VU in about an hr. That was me never having done it before and that hr inc me trimming the back of the exhaust to my required length and tacking on my chrome exhaust tip. Im same as you though, seriously need to invest in some stands. lol. I noticed supercheap had car ramps on special last week, Im tempted to get a set of them as it'd be so quick to just run the car up on some ramps if I ever need to just quickly get under the car. Lol.

dont use car ramps on the front it will hit the front ss kit axle stands are your best bet

i just used blocks of wood from a chopped up tree, lol put em under the car and works just as good as stands do lol, .. and putting on the exhaust shouldnt be too hard if you got enough clearance, so just make sure ya can get it up high enough

I did mine in the drive, drove up on some bricks. I don't recommend doing that. Get some stands. I think you may need you exhaust flanges as well. I have to have another look at mine as it sounds like it has a slight leak that really changes the exhaust note under acceleration. I used a bloody spanner that day, was just too lazy to grab a ratchet, don't do what I did, give yourself decent clearance, and support, as you have to give the exhaust a bit of a bang here and there to get it out and the new one in.

I also ended up leave one hanger off near the drive train on one side, that I couldn't get back on without pulling the drive shaft off the diff. don't think it is a problem however.

lol, i bent the jack from my executive by using it to change tyres on my 75 series cruiser, so i know what their limits are

unfortunately it's only that and a 4.5t bottle jack i purchased for the cruiser which will be getting replaced by a highlift jack in the not to distant future
that i have to work with, i have a hell of alot of besser blocks around the joint but no axle stands, i think i will have to make do
