I am looking at buying a 1999 Vt Calais 5.7 gen III which has 304000kms on it. Apart from the kms it is immacculate but without being able to get a proven service history I am a bit worried about the kms. Does anyone know roughly how many kms they are good for?
mines got 229000kms, its a 1999 WH Statesman, apart from a nagging flat spot (which hopefully an injector reco will fix), it still goes pretty hard
Well i do alot of services for VHA cars (eg taxis) and they got around 600,000km and more. And they are still going very good for its KM's, the last gen3 i replace a engine for had 700,000km and only beacuse the oil pump gave up..... Just check and see if it had it's regular services and it should be fine
NEVER LATE IN A 355ci
Is that the Vt Calais thats currently on carsales mate? If so, looks great with the wheels and factory hbd kit.
As previously said, they are a great motor that will serve you well if its been treated well.
Been in several around the 300km mark and drove sweet. Just check that the auto shifts well and doesnt slip when pushed.
Cheers
If it's done 304k already there's a good chance it has been very well looked after. as said, the auto will be the biggest problem, but they are easily changed out or overhauled if necessary.
The other thing you might want to check is the driveshaft and mounts, just for excessive play which there shouldn't be at all with an auto.
I haven't lost my mind, it's backed up on tape somewhere
