    Default ECOTEC exhaust system recommnds

Looking into buying an exhaust system for my ecotec vt.
I want pacemaker headers and a 2.5 inch catback, and maybe a hotdog or if I can a bi-modal exhaust. Any tips?
Also anyone got a bi-modal exhaust they can reccomend?
And reccomended exhaust fitters in melbounre?

Bi-modal on an Ecotec? I believe those mufflers cost a fair amount of cash.

first off all it depends on what you want....

i wanted the power gain and loudness...

i first of all started with a lukey read end... and it had a nice note, then i added wild cat extractors and a high flow metal cat... a good power gain and i like the exhaust note.....

i learnt the hard way, paid 1900 for complete exhaust on vt v6 gained about 15rwkw and a bit of sound. if your only after power and maybe abit of a note i would put in rockers and a 2.5' cat back. doing the whole system is not really worth it for the price.

How the hell did you work out that you gained 15rwkw from an exhaust???

The only way I could think is that you were running a highly modified engine or a charger with stock exhaust then changed it over.

I could be wrong, but i'm assuming he had roller rocker with that exhaust.

Best note i have heard was on youtube, i'll go grab it now.

Not bad, but the guy in the background operating the table saw kind of ruins it, LOL.

I like the sound of this system

But screw spending $1,500 on a exhaust..... There's quite a few on youtube that sound pretty decent.

Yeah I agree that's what you'll get for $1500 though.
I've spent $1499 and I still need twin cats plus a custom Y piece.

For a cheap, good sounding exhaust, I'd reccommend a 2.5" cat back with the front muffler cut out and replaced with a resonator, and straight pipe into a tip. Will drone a fair bit on an auto, but sounds amazing on a manual. Plenty of crackle when you back off the accelerator, however, it is quite loud. Could get it done for under $500 probably

I can do a Manta cat back and a set of Wildcat extractors shipped for $680, easy enough to fit, no welding required. Comes with front straight through muffler and a rear resonator. Without the resonator $640. When you add extractors the drone reduces.

My VT Spac with Full Redback exhaust, Y-piece and extractors sounded similar to that berlina drive-by.

I spent 1300 inc. labour.. depends where you go, but mine sounded good and did its job.

    But needed a tune.

I've got pacemaker extractors on mine...where should i go from there?? all i really want is something that sounds pretty good, for cheap. Not too concerned about the power.

Nah mate, I had a standard VT N/A V6 Ecotec S pac, I am yet to exhaust and tune my VS.

I felt in my VT with pacies and full redback exhaust didn't have the same power as what I thought it would have, and I was told by a few mechanics my car needed a tune.

For instance, my mate in a 5.7l VU did a exhaust system and maffless, and lost from 225kw to 160kw untill tune (could have been due to the maffless) he did it all in one, so he assumed it may have been the exhaust and/or maffless.
