    Default Removing Tint?

The tint on my back window is quite shitty and has gone hazy if you get what I mean. My plan is to get the whole car re-tinted as I want to get dark tints done anyway, but I have heard it costs like twice as much to get tinting done if they have to remove old tint first (due to the time taken). So I was thinking if I can remove the old tint myself (even just the back window), this will save me some $$$ when I take it in to get tinted. So question is, how exactly do you remove tint? Anyone done this themselves before or have any tips?

i took tint of my old VN the way i did it, was get a kettle, pour boiling water on a rag of some sort and hold on glass near a edge, it heated up the glue and then i was able to peel it off, was a pain, used blades from stanley knives and all sorts, lots of window cleaner to get excess glue off, all i can say, is if it as hard a job as my old VN was. good luck

there probably is a heaps easier way, but i have only done it once and that happened to be the way i did it

Be careful you don't damage your rear window demister, doesn't take much to break the circuit if you scratch one of the lines whilst scraping the glue or tint.

I stripped my windows the other week . I was lucky , i just grabbed a corner and started pulling ( the tint ) and it all came off in one piece. Then i used a metho soaked rag to get the glue off then window cleaner for the final clean up. All up took about an hour. Check out this link How to: Remove tint from your car

everythings easier when u can pay someone else to do it
all u need is an hour out of ur day, and you'll save yourself about $110.. (depending on how much the tint shop wants to help you, or rip you off lol)

Yeah Im a tight ass. LOL. And I enjoy doing stuff myself with my car, gives you a sense of accomplishment when people say it looks good.sounds good/runs well when you know you done at least part of it yourself and didnt just throw money at someone and sayy here, make it look good. LOL. Getting the time off work to do it is the worst part. Haha. Hopefully have time to give the above suggestions a hit this week Thanks again everyone
