1998 VT Berlina Alarm Problem

Hey everyone.

I'm new here and I just got my first car which is a 1998 Berlina VT and I'm having a problem with the alarm. The remote works fine and lets me unlock and lock the doors and everything but whenever I use the key to unlock the door it sets the alarm off. I was wondering if this was normal or if there is anyway to prevent it from doing that because I think the battery in the remote is running flat or something and every now and then it won't unlock the door and I need to use the key.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

that is normal , if you don't use the remote the alarm will sound, get a new remote fob before you have worse problems

M'kay.
Just seems a bit silly that there would be a keyhole on the door that sets the alarm off.
