I am going to lower my car soon and am undecided whether to go for ultra lows or super lows. I would go ultras in a heartbeat, but and curious is the rear guards would need to be rolled, how much it will scrape, and how effectively a 4 point camber kit is going to work at reducing the notorious tread wear of the VR IRS.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
i have ultra lows in the rear, with 17inch vx ss rims, there is plenty of camber without the kit, but not gaurd rub and still very driveable height, even spped bumps etc are no hassle... do itttttt
with the amount of camber you will have (around 4 degrees one person with ultr lows said), the wheel may miss the rear guard.
I have 1.2 degrees on the rear left and it just rubs over bad bumps, with FE2 suspesnion, the right side is about 0.5 degrees and doesn't rub at all. the left side seems to stick out more than the right though, it's weird...
Thanks for that.
Getting Monroe GT shocks with the springs too, so that will help??
are you getting on of them ebay kits?

Sounds like an alright deal hey, with the shocks and shit.
But yeah, anyone else with experience on ultra lows?
+1 on the thinking of getting one of those kits. If you get it be sure to post up how it goes!
if you put ultra lows in and bring back the camber u will scrub..
i am running 19' wheels with super super lows and 245 tyres and i scrub on bad bumps and constantly with people in the back with no camber kit..
the height isn't the only factor to judge if u are going to scrub
you have to look at the camber, the offset of your wheels, the size of your wheels and the size of your tyres
if i put 235 tyres on my rear no scrub, 245 i scrub all the time
food for thought
with no camber kit and stock rear end in my vx s1 with kings ssls in the back, it didnt scrub at all, with a vy diff cradle before getting the camber adjusted, it scrubbed bad on my rims (they're 235s), but my stockies (which were 225s) scrubbed a little bit normally, bad on big bumps, then with some of my mates stockies (205s) they fit fine and didnt scrub. Got the guards fixed up, and the camber fixed up, and my rims (the 235s) fit fine and dont scrub at all even with people in the back going over big bumps etc.
i've got ultra lows all round in my VT Calais with no camber kit at the moment. short rear shocks & front struts are a must. you will destroy standard ones in a matter of weeks.
ABSOLUTLY!! getting 15,000kms out of a pair of bridgestone 225/55/16 er300's. Getting a tad expensive at $200 a tyre (for 16" anyway)

ive got king spring SSL's in the rear of my car. Its got Boge 60mm shortened shocks (from GSL RallySport) and i didnt touch the camber. Mechanic says its 1.9deg on each side. Had a set of 18's for 2 years and changed them coz they were effed on the inside, but as for scrapping on rubbing guards, never happened to me. Speed bumbs never been a hassle but the people in cars behind dont like me coz i go slow, only real issue ive had is steep entrances and exits, like some servo's.....but it just scrapes the fuel tank mounts and sometime towball. Never tapped the diff which is good. Id go for it mate.....

Fat people are hard to kidnap!!!!!!!
ahh thanks man, i reckon i will go for it, just gotta save up the extra cash first.
Might just go 17's on it, stockies on the back for dropping skids haha. Many people got 17's on a dumped vt/vx?
i have ultralows, have no problems with them at all![]()
I read eBay kit towards the top. Better idea would be to talk to the sponsor GSL rally sport. He does awesome deals on kings/kyb lowering kits. KYB shocks are really good.

Ok well it all depends on weither you will be fitting a camber kit and what size rims you will be putting on. My bros got front supers and rear ultras on his car with 19'' 235s (his car come with a camber kit standard) wheels still sit on an angle, but not too bad. his guards have been compleatly rolled but he scrubs on the back bumper with 1 person in the back. (makes highway driving terrible) on my car i got supers in the front and super heavy duty in the rear with no camber kit. wheels sit on the biggest angle (check my pics) but it has only scubbed a few times (on the bumper) and that was with a full loaded car. also if your going to go with a proper exhaust later on it will scrape on everything. pacemakers hang real low and so do big pipes. my bros only had the ultras in for a few weeks, loves the look but hates the impracticality. (especially since we just fitted his new exhaust, pacies, highflow cals and a twin hsv catback) hes putting the supers back in this week. personally id go the same height as my car. Or even ultras in the front but defs slhds in the back. there is a pic of his car and mine below see if you can tell whos whos :P

Sorry, bottom is my bros car ( just incase you couldn't guess :P)
Oh sorry.. again :P bros tires are 245 (not 235 like i said above) and so are mine...
your bros looks pretty good man, so does yours. i am tempted to go ultras but i live in a semi rural area and think that supers are gonna be a little more practical, but ****, ultra are just so tempting!!!!
