VT 5L manual gearbox problems.

Hi, I've got a VT S1 5L 5spd with 190,000 km's. The gearbox crunches into 2nd gear sometimes, on cold starts puts up a fight going into 2nd gear and occasionally i feel friction on the right side of the shifter going into 4th gear. My mechanic thinks the gearbox will need a rebuild due to the synchro on 2nd gear being worn out, can anyone tell me if this is right? if fresh gearbox oil might help? I don't know when the gearbox was last serviced. Or how much a basic rebuild on a Getrag 5spd might cost? Thanks.

gday, my vt started doing exactly the same thing around 200000 ks,i tried a few things, but in the end i was left on the side of the road with a blown transmission, my advise would be save the hassles and get it rebuilt now or atleast get it properly checked. cheers
