Hey everyone,
Just in the process of deciding what car to get and it would be great if I could get everyones opinions...
I wouldn't mind getting a good VT Calais I have found though I am pressuming I would have to spend alot of money upgrading stuff compared to if I were to get a Clubsport VS. (As in extractors, LSD??, etc etc)
They are both in excellent condition with full log book history and low km's.
If I get the VT Calais i'd probably give it a full GTO body kit etc so I'd need to spend lots of money by the looks of it if I chose the VT :/
Any helps much appreciated,
Thanks,
MattyC.

Hey bud,
I'd go the HSV,
The Calais are nice, but hey I Just Want one......Says it all :-)
Good luck with whatever you decide on.
If I'm not pulling Toyota's out of the Bush, I'm pulling 12's in the Sig :-)
the vt is nice, but i would go with the vs clubby, plus they are lighter than the vt and look alot better looks wise...they will hold value abit better than the vt calais

I am going to go against the flow here and say get the Calais. There is no way I could go back to a VS interior now. You will get full elec windows, 8 way elec seats (possible leather), climate control, fog lamps
Take a look at mine.

Yeah i know what you mean though the Clubby has power windows, really good seats actually, the calais doen't have leather.. but they're better than the stock VT seats.
I just want something that stands out, so I'd probably have to do a full GTO kit on the Calais and then i'd need the full exhaust etc so it's going to need a bit of money spent, thats the only thing.

Think you've answered your own question then mate. If your after that HSV, stands out from the crowd look, get the VS Clubby. Will cost you way more to mod the VT the way you want it. New kits + painting etc adds up very quickly. Plus as also mentioned, the VT is heavier therefore the VS will actually be quicker even though its a model older
my vote would be vtII calais. you can be a long time owning a car. and it is worth a couple of extra grand. just add the extras slower.
If you have you're heart set on one of these then i personally would go VT calais. But for around 10k you could get a VT 5l Clubsport. Just my 2 cents worth....
You might want to check out the insurance on the Clubby as it could be a lot more than the Calais, maybe being an older model HSV it might not be as bad, when I bought my VX SS I was considering a VX Clubby but the insurance was too high compared to the SS. Maybe do a ring around and compare premiums on the two.
Yeah that is correct.
Well..... the VS Clubby sold, but I found a 93 HSV VP Clubsport 5th Anniversary that looks in great condition.
Still not sure what to get haha... Does anyone know how much a GTO Bodykit would cost for the VT? and a really good sounding exhaust? (I love the old muscle car sound)

GT Bodykit would be upwards of $1200 i would imagine, as front bars only are stil $650 on ebay. Plus painting. Which is exxy on its own. Just a good cat back exhaust you'll get for maybe $500 but if your gonna mod it yourself get extractors etc as well. But that ups the price a lot of course.
How many kms on the VP? And any service history with it?
Logbooks should hopefully mean has been serviced regularly. If its nice like you say then has more then likely been looked after. Head over to the VP thread and check out the 'faults/problems' sticky thread. That might give you an idea of a few of the common probs with them to have a quick check for when you go have a look. Good luck with it mateBe sure to post up pics if you bring it home! lol
I just picked up my VXII R8 on Tuesday. Full comp insurance through AAMI was $200 a year more than if I went the VXII SS. Was the first thing I checked before purchasing the car (was originally looking at the SS). Just car was closer to $400 more per year for the Clubby.
pics please![]()

50LTRv8 - I will be taking some pics this weekend, I'll post them in the "My Ride" section. Very pleased with the purchase though. My first V8 so figured I should do it properly![]()
Alright guys, thanks for all your help.
I ended up going today and buying the VT Calais 5L
Thought it was a good deal.. Full service history and only on 150 000km's, from 1 previous owner who is around 45 years old.
I'll make up a thread when I get it on Monday and start writing down what I'll be doing to it(Thinking exhaust, CAM, Intake? etc)
Matthew.
