My mate has a vt the rear drivers side door is childlocked.
He went to use the door from the outside and the door handle broke.
Thus disabling any way of opening the door(because of the childlock he can't open the door from the inside).FACEPALM
Is there anyway of opening the door?.
The quote has been $220 to fix....he's on a pension and I'm trying to save him some extra money.
Kind regards
Hamma
this happened to me a few months back. yes you can, but it is very hard. if you remove the interior trim piece between the front and rear doors this will give you access to a couple of the screws retaining the rear door lining. if you undo these screws (i think i could access 2) then you will be able to peel back the door lining a little. the lining will probably get a bit damaged but thats a trade-off you need to consider (i made a small tear in the top of the lining, but not really noticeable). now, you need very long and thin arms to get into the door cavity (it helps to move the front seat as far forward as you can) and reach in and contort you arm aaaaaall the way over to where the external door handle presses down the little lever that opens the door. i have very long arms and could barely reach it. it also bloody hurts your fingers pressing down on that suckers coz it has small teeth on top of it. apply enough downward pressure and the door will pop open.
really, really unpleasant job but it worked.
