2006 onwards is full OBDII compliant

u will need ALDL compatible cable.

yes obd 2 will work

obd2 won't work on VT,VX,Vy ser1 V6 but will work on VT ser2 onwards v8s with the 5.7l even though it has the exact same diagnostic connector.

i've tried an obd2 scan tool on my vt and it dont work.
