im thinking it wouldnt be that hard hence why i wouldnt pay for it, my grandpa rebuilds vintage cars and i often help him do woodgrain effects on dashboards so im thinking marble wouldnt be much different

This looks similar to the technique that was used on some 1930's-40's cars, where the steel dash and tops of doors are painted to resemble wood.
search "faux wood dash paint" the hot rodder site has some pics.
That method uses a brown base colour, and ink is applied via a series of special rubber rollers that have ripples and tree knot patterns on them. A soft brush is then used to blurr and soften the lines, until it looks like a piece of wood. Tinted clear is then applied over the top to seal it.
It looks like something similar is used with the marbling, and possibly a piece of material or green scourer is used to create the pattern and a tinted clear is applied to seal it.

i read a story on this from house of kolors they have big sheets of paper (looks like paper anyways maybe be some think different) which the apply to the base coat which must leave some sort of residue which makes the final coat give off the marble effect so yea very similar to the above wood effect theory. i read this a long time ago but it was some think along those lines.

its different to the wood grain effect process. to explain it simply the panel or part is painted with a basecoat, then another coat is applied of a different colour, then while its still wet glad wrap or something similar is put over the top and pressed down here and there then removed, pulling off some of the paint and smearing other parts. you can then do more layers/colours until the desired effect is acheived then it is clear coated. a work mate did his motorbike tank with four different color pearls, looked different anyhow.

When I first opened the page I thought it looked alright, then I had a closer look and it looks kinda like woodgrain but not too my taste, and not worth nearly 2 grand!

Personally I reckon it would have looked nicer just with the candy apple and a heap of clear.

my mate is a spray painter and did it on his road bike. Very easy actually.
step1- paint a layer of black paint and let dry.
step2- paint desired colour over the top and while it wet get some glad wrap and scrunch it up a bit and place on wet paint.
step3- peel glad wrap off and the wet paint will stick to it where it touches.
step4- let dry and sand back so you got a flat surface again.
step5- clear coat as per normal paint jib
step6- step back and enjoy your handy work

Yep, that is the technique I have seen too. You can use anything really, depending on the effect you want. I have seen hession, steel wool, plain rags and fish net stockings used. Experiment on something with different materials until you find something you like.

dna paints google it they have bulk products to do amazing effects and there an aus company.
its a basic process as said above paints are layered and then peeled off, u would want to use a
decent paint and gun or itl turn out shit. Ps spray cans wont work and plastic primer/ filler will be needed

look at the crystal effect on that sight its awsome theres even some videos on youtube...

There is also a technique that you paint a base coat then fill a big tub full of water and put some oil based paint in and it will float on top. Give it a tiny stir with a stick to get an effect and then dip the part into the paint and the oil paint will stick to the part in the marble effect. I don't know if you can do it on plastic but it works with paper. Very basic but it works
