Question about v6 Supercharged engines

Hi, Im looking at buying a VT S pack with the supercharged 6. My dad said that this engine has to be run on premium unleaded, but so far on the net ive found that it only needs to run on regular unleaded.
Does it need to be on premium, and what would result if i just used regular unleaded?

When i run mine on normal 92 octane it drinks fuel and the exhaust stinks. It looses a fair bit of power too. I dont notice the exhaust stinking when i use E10 but it does use a bit more fuel than if i run premium.

your dad is correct it should be run on nothing lower than 95 especially if you are modding it

how could it possibly damage the supercharger?
the charger has no idea what kind of fuel is running through the motor, all it cares about is air.
running higher boost on low octane fuel may risk early detonation, harm to the motor, not the charger.
