Posting this for a mate, did a search and couldn't find anything. Headlights are blowing on a VT Berlina, would this be something to do with the BCM on the way out? He's told me his BCM is on the way out because he had issues with the power windows not long ago, but this was bypassed somehow, and now his headlights are blowing on a weekly basis.
Also looking at replacing the BCM, how hard will it be to replace? I understand that the key heads have to be supplied with the BCM, otherwise will have to get keys programmed to the BCM. Also understand that the BCM has to be programmed to the ECU with a tech 2, is there anything else we should be aware of?

It could be a faulty voltage regulator in the alternator causing the bulbs to blow. I had the same problem on a machine i used to drive where it kept blowing globes on work lights and the computer kept shutting down when i turned the lights off. I checked the battery voltage and found i was getting 37Volts on a 24 volt system which should normally run at 27 volts. the voltage regulator was the cause.
On a 12 Volt system you should not reach above 14Volts at any time.
My VT has the same problem.. its only ever the drivers side low beam that blows.. am gettin over replacing bulbs every week too!
Just a tip - do not touch the headlight globes with your bare hands. The oil from your hands causes the globes to blow. If you do accidentally touch the globe, clean the area with methylated spirits.
I believe I have a followup to this issue. It seems it only happens when it rains, so my theory is the seal that holds the headlight together. Perhaps made need to be resealed.

Hey there i am guessing if it only happening when its raining you are getting water inside you headlight assembly causing it to blow or short out .
