i thought batteries needed air to breath and not over heat, you might also want to line the inside of your cover with rubber

Normal car batteries still release small quantities of gas, which if boxed up and somehow ignite will explode, not recommended. If you have a sealed battery then its OK to put in a box.

What is the diff between a sealed battery and a non seald?
if i was to make a cover i would deffenately line it with rubber or foam.

I think putting a metal box around it would be silly, if you join the 2 terminals by mistake it will weld its self on, get stuck then the batter will explode. I had a shifter go between the 2 and was close to welding its self on there. bad idea me thinks.

Cost. For example I have an Optima D34, tons of CCA, and is sealed. So I can mount it upside-down, on its side, etc. Do that to a normal battery and you will have battery acid everywhere.

Make a vented one out of polished aluminium. Will look just as cool and you won't have conductivity issues.

Do a neat boot install. Hide that sucker in the boot.

Sealed is also called "maintenance free".
You can make a stainless steel cover for it, absolutely, considering there will be holes for the wires! Just don't seal them up and insulate the inner lid that goes over the terminals.

OR... you could make a custom fibreglass OTR CAI that replaces the entire radiator cover and also extends over the battery on the left and filter box on the right... would look so much neater
I haven't lost my mind, it's backed up on tape somewhere
