Default What to look out for in a Supercharged VT

Hi, Im looking at a supercharged VTII S on the weekend and its got 222,300 on it.
Theyre asking $5999 for it, and its got ABS, traction control and vy ss rims on it.
Just after opinions on the price, and also want to know what i should check for when i look at it.
    Cheers

Is it a series I or Series II
With VT's watch out what series they are! If it is a series II that it is more refined and some parts that might fail will be gernerally cheaper than a Series I. I got stuck with a sI and have had to replace a few things not to bad thro! Its just some series I VT's had common problems and issues that fased out on the series II and in some cases altogether on the VX model.
In sayin that it depends on the life that the car has had (you know thrashed or not, serviced or not)

I would just look for a service history and the parts that have been replaced if known

i would check odd sounds in the engine, odd sounds from drive line and the diff. Check sump, has it got wear marks from rubbing, meaning needs mounts, have the wheels got scrub marks from hitting gutters, if so, check suspension hasn't been stuffed, check control arms

    +1 for lim gasket.

check the coolant, or even just ask if the lim was changed over for a metal one.

as well there is a website, lists common issue that you should check over listed at the top of the topic.

    Faults - VT

I can't work out that page however.

realistically, I don't think there were substantial changes between, series 1 and 2 for the supercharged model. The made slight cosmetic changes, and the seat covers. personally I think the early seat covers and look was better. The original series 2 mags, looked better too IMHO. but with ss mags this won't be an issue. you will have 17s or 18s.

for that price you are getting a good deal, as long as it has been serviced often and not pranged.

210,000k no leaks original lim gasket. but yes keep an eye on them notorious for leaks. other than what i said before about usual stuff also listen for rattly blower snout could be coupler or bearings, coupler is cheap an easy but bearings can be expensive.

    hey 11gothevt11
Ive had the car for about 6months and so far i have had to buy new front rotors, buying a sway bar link kit because the current bushes are worn and making noises (like a cracking sound), have to replace the front wheel bearing hubs when i can find a cheap second hand set and just a few were and tear things.
It just depends on how you treat your car or in my case how the last owner treated it :P

I have a series 2 VX Calais L67 and all this stuff has gone / is going..

    Castor Bushes
    Link pins
    Sttering rack (leaking oil)
Engine mounts, sump is sitting on the k-frame

other than that check the oil cap for milky sludge because it's really common for the LIM gasket to go, but it's much easier to change than the head gasket

I had a look at it and it had been in an accident at some point and was repaired TERRIBLY. overspray over the front fenders, and the front bar didnt even match the car, no panels lined up either. so im gonna keep looking i reckon
