Default removing power seats? - what do i need to consider?

well.. after a full day with the car in pieces.. pulled the seats out to mount amps under them..

    passenger goes in nice..
drives side not so nice... the motors are in the way.

lets say i weld the seat together (so its no longer adjustable) and cut out the motors.
but i can still move the seats back and forth.

will it effect the operation of the airbags?

    has it been done?
what else do i need to consider?

    sounds stupid.. but meh.

will the airbag system fail with the current going through it while welding? (will obviously do it with seat out of the car)

If you disconnect the pretensioner wire on the seat it will show up on your dash as the airbag light. this cannot be removed until you have the codes reset with Tech2. But if you are not actually disconnecting anything than that doesnt matter. Just something to watch out for if you didnt know.

ive already got the airbag light on since my bro was really eager to hear the system before i put it back together... so i have to get it reset anyway.

but it can be done right? if not i will just buy another seat from wreakers.

Hey guys um I bought a Series 2 VX and the guy before me got the Seats changed over and since then the Airbad light has been on ever since.
IS this due to the pretensioner wire??
I took it to Holden Sunco and they said they reset it but its still on god knowes how much it will cost to get fixed then.

Food for thought have you look at maybe putting passenger side in or maybe look into a earlier model like vr -vs not to shaugh about the bolt up patterns as such but be worth looking into ,but another thing to consider if you are running big amps or smaller amps if your given them a bit the could warm up and burn out quicker being mounted on carpet i would think they need ventilation top and bottom anyway good luck with it.

by memory the majority of the VT models have the drivers electric base! dont mess with that its not worth it.
and my airbag light is on to! does the reset of the tech2 cost much if anything at all ??

I would just put a passenger side seat in, I believe that the rails are the same, but then you have no height adjustment. Also if you have side airbags then the controller is under the drivers seat and you can't remove that.
