    Default Lukey Air Filter..

I just put a Lukey air filter in my 5L today and theres deffinitly a difference going from a BMC alot more flow, not a major difference but it seems to suck alot more air and car seems to run better. But, could the fibers that the Lukey filters made out of harm anything if they end up in the engine?

how would the fibers end up in the engine? imo the lukey filters are the best so good choice, in my ols 5ltr i 1st had a k&n filter then i changed to a lukey filter for half the price and to me i thought it was heaps better, plus the lukey is is a dry filter so it doesn't leave oil build up

RUnning a Lukey for nearly 2 years now that replaced a K&N. The Lukey is much much better. I do no see how the fibres will end up in the engine. Did you have those concerns with the stock paper ones as well ? There will always be some silica and dust that will pass the filter no matter what into the engine, no matter what filter you use, but longevity and better airflow it what we are after here. I enjoy the no oiling and just having to rinse it part of the cleaning process.

I'd be more worried about the oil getting onto the TB and sensors...

EDIT: just read that they are a dry filter woops

Mine arrived today, put it in after work. Don't know what brand of filter was in there before (yellow paper one with metal mesh on it) but it was dirty as ^*#%. Haven't taken her for a drive yet but will give my impressions once I have.

I put one in at about 145k and I did notice a difference when I first put it in but i think I'm used to it now lol.

Car now has 160k odd on it. How often should they be cleaned? Not sure where the packaging has gone. Although I get my car serviced every 5k and clean it inside and out (including engine bay, boot, door jams) every week. It should be right I'd think? Might just check anyway to be sure.

    Might cost 80 though. Dammit.
