Default Will an 8'X4' sheet of ply fit in a VX Wagon

Hi Guys just wondering if an 8'X4' (2440X1220) sheet of 12mm ply or anything would fit in the back of a vt/vx wagon?

    Thanks

Pretty sure you out of luck there but why don't you just measure the space in the wagon?

No, 7' X 4' is the most you can fit! Unless you leave a bit sticking out the back, and hold down the tail lid with a ocka strap! Tho the exhaust fumes may get to you.

Bugger, i dont mind sticking a bit out the back but i was hoping to put subs in the back and still be able to slide a sheet on top of them when i need to, if i do this the boot will have to be open a bit much i think.

    Thanks for your help guys

One more question, do you guys think a wagon will be more practical than a ute for someone who occasionally has to carry an 8' x 4' sheet and also long lengths of timber/aluminium/steel?
I know i can fit somthing 3.5mtrs long in a sedan but that would be the limit for a ute as there would be nearly 1m hanging out, this is why i'm leaning towards a wagon

    Thanks

With the proper rack I think a ute would be more practical, even with racks on the wagon it think you could get more weight safely on the ute than the roof of the wagon.
Just call into a car yard and take some measurements and that way you you'll know what you can fit into a wagon.

i didnt even think of roof racks lol, that would make a ute more practical, unless i need to carry people, i might go take some measurements and see what the price difference are between a ute and wagon and also insurance costs, Thanks heaps for your help accentstencil

Another suggestion is that you might want to consider purchasing a trailer.

+1, keep the car as nice as you can; don't rip a roof lining etc

now i just dont know what to do,
its very unlikely that i'd damage anything as it will only be every now and then when i need to use it as a work car, but accidents do happen

Get a set of roof racks from ebay and use them to cart the ply around.

i reckon i'm gunna go with the wags, i do drive people rnd almost every weekend not that i want to, fitting a 8 x 4 sheet in a wags really just would of been a bonus as i can tow a trailer if i need to, one of the reasons i want to get rid of the sedan is because i'm sick of having the same car as every 2nd person on the road, i'd like to look at a shopping centre car park and say theres my car rather than what ones my car lol, i also cant afford 2 rego's as i was looking at getting an older ute,
    Thanks for your help everyone
