so i just fueled up today...280km from a tank (city) WTF!!! thats roughly 16-17L/100km. however on highway drives i average between 8-10L/100. I only have to drive a short distance to work and have noticed that by the time im there my temp guage has only just lifted, i was thinking this could be apart of the problem as im lead to believe more fuel is used when cold?. 95% of the driving was grandma style staying under 2800rpm at all times...
i've done a little search and have found that oxy sensors and coolant temp sensors seem to be the main problems.
thoughts?
Also thermostat if its taking forever to heat up...
Start with the basics, its been serviced recently yeah? Tyre pressures, wheel alignment, engine oil has been replaced.... plugs, air filter et. al. .... its idling fine and not misfiring/shaking? Test resistance of the leads with a multimeter...
yer plugs, leads, air filter, tyre pressures are all ok...due for a oil/filter change. im not 100% but i think i changed the thermostat last year...
i might just service it and see if it makes a difference...
[QUOTE=11gothevt11;1565272]Make sure you have thermosat fitted .. Just a thought Might be stuck open???
but I have only heard they get stuck shut...
Also have a look at it see whats the opening tem on it..
Its ingraved on the thermosat
Dirty fuel filter will make it use more fuel too because you loose fuel pressure and the injectors dont spray a fine mist of fuel like they should. Oxygen sensors should only make a difference when cruising on the highway.
Hey I have vn v6 and it does 320 kms to a tank round town and that's till empy cause when I fill up it takes 60 ltrs and no I dnt flog It I drive Like a granny
