Default Tired Auto Trans? - VT

Im suspecting that my trans needs some attention

    Symptoms that I have noticed:
    * Whilst pulled up in PARK in my driveway on a slight incline, It seems to give abit and roll backwards
    * Whilst driving around 65-70 kph seems to be searching for 3 or 4th
    * Will almost always stay in 2nd for a prolonged period while under high revs off the line ( this may be normal? )

I have had the car for about 4 years had no problems until these subtle changes i have noticed in the last 6 months

any help or ideas would be appreciated
or if im being too paranoid, let me know also

    Cheers

roll back how far? a little bit is normal
around 70 is when ours finds top gear and does change back an forth quiet easy at thse speeds
if you plant your foot and hold ours will go out to 120-130 (been to the drags ebough to know this) before changing to 3rd but driving normaly will only hold second a bit long when in power mode.

About 4 years your well due for a trans service so get that done and it should be sweet and shouldnt cost you any more than $100-$120

Maybe it doesnt roll back too much, just posted all the little symptons up to eliminate any faults
I do drive around the city in 60 kph and 70 kph speed zones in 3rd and on some occasions in 80kph speed zones from time to time
I will shift into D when traveling above 80 and on the Highway
would it cause wear on the trans doing this?

Whilst off the line and through 2nd it will pause slightly before shifting into 3rd ( around 5600 rpm. ie rev limit )

And the shifter has vibration consistently whilst driving

should always apply handbrake before going into park anyways, its only small pin in the trans which if your allowing car to roll back all its weight is on it

The vibration could be engine mounts.

The roll back on the Park is normal, when parking though it is best to chuck it in N, then apply the handbrake and allow that to hold the car. Then apply the P. Other wise you are applying undue pressure/strain on the Park Gear. If you first allow any roll back to occur on the handbrake it stops you one day not having a Park Gear :P

I've found as soon as you get over 70 my gearbox IMMEDIATELY wants 4th, slightly annoying. I agree with 180sc a Trans service might be the go, just to give it a once over, might make it run that bit smoother.

Can't really help beyond that, but I really recommend you don't let it rock on the P, just wack the handbrake on first and allow that to take the roll.

    Cheers lufkin on that tip.
my driveway is near flat no more that 5 degree incline maybe
I'll get into a habit of pulling up in N and putting on the Handbrake . Cheers

@ MikeCuzzy Engine Mounts ? possibly. I hope not

Ive checked a few prices out and found a FULL flush out service for $185
using Justice Brothers "Super Lubricant" and a process much like a Blood Transfusion
claims to replace virtualy all the fluid compared to 40% with a normal service

also includes tightening of the bands where necessary

anyone heard of this technology in Australia ?.

Also Rhino08, leave your shifter in D for drive. Your car will decide which gear is best.

Your lock-up torque converter won't work unless D is selected and you will use more fuel and cause undue wear on fluid, clutches and bands.

since you always drive on 60-70 zones, why not use the power mode? i believe it helps in preventing the car from shifting the gears up and down all the time due to the lack of torque.
