Hi my 2001 vx acclaim has been overheating now for the past few months I have taken it to 2 different mechanics and neither of them have been able to find the problem.
A brief description of the problem:
My car just started to over heat and would flash HOT HOT HOT on the dash I took it to the mechanic who replaced the thermoste and gasket and flushed the radiator I was told the problem was fixed. The very next day the same problem occured leaving me stranded on the side of the road. Once the car cooled down I was back on my way and several days later I noticed that my heater was no longer working. I again broke down in another town and went to the nearest mechanic who again replace the thermostat and told me he had bypassed the heater as I didn't want to pay the $1000 he wanted to charge me to fix the heater core. Although my heater now appears to be worker hotter than ever.. In all this time I had told the mechanics that the engine fans seem to be working extra hard and loud and that if I am driving on an open road I do not have any problems with the car over heating but as soon as I hit a town or traffic lights the slowing down of the car makes the temp rise. Can anyone please help me to resolve this problem I really do not want to have to fork out anymore money to a mechanic as I have already forked out $1000 and haven't had the problem fixed...

Please help me I would love to hear any suggestions you might have..
