Default are all ecotec motors the same?

i have a vt2 s pack with 384000 k on the clock and i am looking at purchasing a damaged vehicle from a local auction, but it is a vx2,would like to know if the engine gear box and diff would be compatable with the old girl?i have a choice of two vehicles at auction 1 man 1 auto any ideas on which would be the easiest conversion?
are the computers the same or would i have to change engine looms as well?
hope i can get some advice before i am parted with my cash.

motors are the same vs-vy as for which is easier to put in depends if your car is auto or manual you would certainly have more fun with manual but in saying that to convert to manual you will have to change the computer and loom and also the pedals clutch master cylender and a few other things like console and stuff like that but as for motor just plug and play

Some of the sensors differ between models, you will need to put the VT sensors that are different in whichever engine you get, but apart from that, an ecotec is an ectoec.

The VX Ecotec has a revised intake manifold in order to better distribute the PCV vapour.

The manual VX V6 has a different tailshaft design to manual VT; both ends and the centre bearing mount. On both manual and auto. the transmission, tailshaft and differential from VX should be able to be swapped in as a complete assembly (check the centre bearing mount) but not piecemeal as the pinion flanges are different at both ends between VT and VX.

The VX manual has traction control.

The PCMs are different between VT and VX but your VT PCM will run a VX engine.

The VX toe control link rear end might be a useful swap.

The front ARB links are better on the VX - might be worth keeping them also.

I think that the steering rack ratio is different - slower? - on VX.
