i use to live in vic and moved to SA this was 3 years ago though, but i think all i did was go to transport SA which is same as vic roads, and just had to pay a admin fee and they gave me new plates, wasnt expensive
yea nah its different for vic to sa, alot easier id say lol

yeah, pretty sure if your car is over a certain age it has to go for a road worthy
Chev badges are an instant fail
yea i know i have to get a roadworthy but i just want to know if they will transfer the sa reg to vic reg or will i have to pay for a full years of vic reg?

I went NSW to SA, and they told me that rego's dont transfer interstate. You have to get a refund for the current rego, and then buy new rego in your state.

yea thanks guys, i think ill use the rest of the sa reg then transfer it just before the reg runs out, no point doing it now and wasting the 3 months reg
thanks fellas

i just bought my car from nsw about 2 months ago and i had to get rwc then had to book an appointment with vic roads and what they do is cancel the other states rego and re-register it as vic, was alright for me cos the car i bought only had 1 weeks reg left anyway.
the stupid thing is i had all the info for the car and went in to vics roads to do the rego and the lady said i had to book an appointment so they can check to make sure the numbers on the the car all match and its not a dodgy, but when i went in for the appointment all they did was cancel old reg put on new reg and gave me my plates and that was it, they didnt even lay eyes on the car, was a waste of time cos they coulda done that when i went in the 1st time when the place was empty lol.

Here is the link to VICRoads that tells you the process, I went through it last year and waited 7 months until the interstate rego had run out:
Light vehicle registration : VicRoads
Essentially, it is treated as a new registration so a RWC is required along with an appointment, a full years rego will need to be paid along with plates fees, stamp duty if required - 4% of purchase price, transfer fees etc.

Yeah wait til the rego runs out then book it in for new rego at vicroads, get your RWC done before that. I'm going through the process now with my calais I bought from nsw.
