to unhook the bonnet cable where the lever inside the car in the footwells, leave the bonnet lever there as a dumby just incase any cops feel like look under my hood. then cutting the cable shorter and making another lever futher back that only i know the location of........... does anyone know anyone that has done this or has any tips
OK I had to read that sentence about 5 times to work out what you are saying. The question I have to ask is why would you want to make a hidden bonnet release?
I suppose it is possible but would be a bit of effort.

sound like a stupid question to me. If your doing something to make the cops want to look under your hood then you probly deserve it. lets face it, if it gets to the point of them opening the hood your probly better off co-operating with them.
If the cops want to look under yer bonnet, then find that they can't get it open, I recon that you would be in line for a defect or worse, they get the car taken to a place where they would get it open!
Defect you will get a canary for this due to the fact that your engine catches fire Defect plus how much money you spending to make the cops wanna see it give me some $$$$$$$$
well im in red ps for a start, and ive been pulled over before and the cop open my bonnet cause the catch was broke and i only got a defect and went the next day to get it off. its alot better than losing 3 points
yeah well im sorry for my bad english, i dont think you are getting the point. i dont want the cop to see my engine... i want them to think its broken, when its actully not ive just moved the lever to a diffrent postion further back... get what i mean. ive just been under there anyway and sorted out a way that will work
Ok so basically you don't want the cops to see this L67 engine in the hands of a Red P Plater. We matey here is a hint, get a car that you are legally allowed to drive and stop asking people here to assist you in breaking the law.
Likely scenario is cop won't be able to open bonnet, cop defects you for that, you get inspection done and they see supercharged engine and defect you more. Then come all the fines I hope they slug you with, you cry, I point and laugh, and then I will laugh some more. You don't like the law then tough sh!t, everyone has to obey them.

Do it. I was gonna do it at one point with my supercharged vn. Unplug the original wire and hook up the bonnet latch to a central locking motor

I understand that to some people my last post was a bit harsh, but my point is that the law is the law, it doesn't matter if you like it, just as long as you follow it.

well if the car is registered in someone elses name like a parent that parent could just take it down and get the defect taken off, so the car having a supercharged engine wouldnt matter.
And who cares if hes trying to drive a supercharged car hes not asking for someone to lecture him about the law, just needs some pointers on how to change the lever, Im sure anyone on ps has at one point thought of getting either a supercharged/v8 engine and been worried about the cops.
This is just a smart way of getting around the engine restrictions.
Nah you would just hook it up to 12 V and a couple of switches. With a bit of wiring, you could set it up to run off one push button switch. I'd rather be defected for a faulty bonnet, than to have to deal with defects and EPA. I never got around to doing it, and have had no need to do it on my new car.

Every thing probably would be sweet, untill the driver is involved in an accident, then insurance companies are involved (you ARE insured, are you? ) then if it is established that you are not lawfully driving the car, you could be in DEEP SH!T !!!...null and voide policy, and all that!= $$ lost.
I did not realise that this is a forum where there are so many people who ignore the law, break the law and condone others breaking the law. No wonder this country is going to hell in a handbasket, everybody thinks it's OK to do what they want with no regard for the rules.

sorry for changing topic but i dont see why L67's are illegal to drive for P platers anyway... L67 = 170kw... VZ alloytec=175-190, VE alloytec=190=210, BA-FG=185-205 there are alot more N/a cars that have more power then a L67...in saying that modifying a L67 will get more/easier gains i guess..
This is right up there with the can i put a BOV on my stock VL thread![]()
