The Xt was driven to a town 300 klms away sitting on 110 kls PH on cruise control without any signs of any problems going up there.
My mate borrowed the car the next morning to shoot across to another country town and come straight back but never made it when it broke down.
The car has now come back to town and has been diagnosed having a blown factory supercharger and bottom end has gone. The supercharger repair will be $2800 plus bottom end.
The guy that borrowed the car said he was just driving it when it just konked out and could not get it to start and run.
Now what do you think…. Is it how these things happen or was this XT abused by the driver.
I don’t know much about these cars so I thought I’d ask what you think.
Well I can't say for sure but these things usually happen due to abuse not normal driving. I suspect your mate was giving it a hard time.

agree with accent.
never lend your car out.
Hit the star under this post if it was any help to you =D
Two things you never lend, your car and your missus, both will come back ****ed.
If you trust your mate tho maybe the car had oil pressure problems.
Well in that case, do you have any warranty left on it?
I doubt it would have been an oil pressure problem. the supercharger has its own oil which is separate to the engine. Bits of the supercharger might have gone through the engine if the supercharger flew to bits. Its a bit hard to say what caused it to blow without seeing it.
I was always told to never lend you bike your car or your missus and in that order because it will only cause problems.
It might be an idea to talk to your mechanic and ask him what he thinks caused the engine to blow.
That’s the only thing that seems out of the ordinary as it was fine going up those 300 klms without any signs of unusual motor sounds.Nothing out of the ordinary on the long drive.
The motor can’t be covered under warranty as it was replaced by the last mechanic as he did a service and forgot to refill the oil and water so he paid for the replacement motor and doesn’t want to see me again.
With a mechanic like that you are better off never seeing him again. How do you forget to refill the oil and water, after all that's the main part of a service.

years ago back when i had a VN it got a service, got half way home on the freeway, car dies and stops, couldnt work out wtf had happened called RAA, they did a check over noticed sump plug was missing, some mechanics are friggin useless. Dont know what he did like not done up all the way, not done up at all, who knows, it had to have been in enough though for them not to notice the oil leaking all over their workshop who knows, anyways this is why i do my own services now
i think holden can access a lot more information with their tech 2 such as rpm temperature etc if it logged a code when the super charger "died" (was murdered)
Any ideas if this can be repaired/fixed without fitting a supercharger back onto the motor.
It will save me heaps for now.I can get it fitted latter when I can save up for it.
Seems to me that someone gave it a fair flogging to do all that damage, I'd be puttin the hard words on ya mate, if he still ya mate, just konked out yaeh rite, goodluck with it all cheers Bob.
Do your rear tyres have considerably less tread then when you last looked at them?
We have now discovered a piston has let go.
I think you answered your own question here about what's wrong with the motor, I don't think it was your mates driving, anyway if the "licence motor mechanic" that replaced your motor with "receipt" will not help you I suggest speaking with Dept fair trading. Don't mention anything about your mate driving, it will not help your cause.
completely agree with this. it should still be covered by warranty regardless of what happened prior. the fact the first motor didnt have oil/water put into isnt your problem or faultt. if he wont come to the party & fix the car, then it will be the worse for him. go down this route first before anything else. the only problem i can see is how you found out a piston let go,wether you did it yourself or got a mechanic to inspect it. if you did it yourself this could make it harder to make any claim
