Hey
i'm thinking of lowering my ute, i don't use it for work and don't like how high it sits with the stock suspension... but i do like the ride quality and how it absorbs bumps etc
what i was concerned about was if i lowered it with king springs.. will the ride quality become rough as guts?? i'm after the lower look, but with the stock feel or close too
are kingys the go? or are there other springs i should maybe take a look at instead
cheers!!
its ok, depends on the shockers you install as well.
Mine only rides on lowerd king springs and it is not bumpy at all.
i have aurora springs in my car, local product made here in adelaide, pretty damn good quality, decent warranty too.
checkout their website SPRINGS - Coil - Leaf - manufacturer - Industrial Springs Home
with spring i found you get what you pay for, these are 20-25% stronger than factory spec
KYB Excel-G's are awesome mate, get them through the club sponsor here.

I got Kingspring SL on my VX with stock hocks. Its ok in normal driving but feels shity when going over speed bumps.
Try to look for Lowerd Spring, they're lower than FE2s but not too low.
i fitted lows as they are meant to be around the same height as fe2, but they settled lower with the rear tyres flush with the top of the guards.
Fitted with monroe shocks,it does ride a fair bit rougher than standard but also handles heaps better. Hope this helps
cheers for ya help fella's.. i'm pretty keen on the kings so i'll have to try and source some softish shockys from somewhere
and another question on Kingy's!!
If i use Kingspring SL's on the front and back of my ute, will it still sit higher at the back?.. i've heard some matey's use SSL's on the back and SL's on the front
Commys generally sit a little higher in the rear, so yeah its common for people to go 1 step lower on the rear then the front so kinda even it out a lilttle
i just put king springs in my VT they are a great ride. i had pedders in there before and didnt like them, also put lower in the back the car will sit better!
Yer if you dont wanna lose ride quality you definitly need to go for shockers. My car sits on Kings SSSL's in the rear and SSL's in the front.
It was absolutely horrible till i put new shortened shockers on, im using Monroe GT Sports which made a huge difference from the standard.
However being said, if your not going that low it might not make a huge difference to quality to the ride..
yeah, sweet.. i might copy ya champ... i'd like it sitting level or at least or close too, without the 5cm ugly gap i have between the tyres and the gaurd i have currently
i don't want it sitting lower at the back tho.. don't wanna look like i'm crusin round with a fat homeless chick squating in the tray... so i replace the rear shockys and go SSSL's at the back and SSL's in the front to give it that nice look
is that right?
If you dont want it lookin like ur carryin the fat chick around I wouldnt go SSSL in the rear. It would look awesome yeah.. But you could prob kiss any chance of even putting a loaded toolbox in the back without it draggin. SSSL's are a pretty low spring. Its really only 1 step off dumping it on its ass with airbags. personally Id go SSL in the rear, SL in the front. That would have it looking sweet, but not draggin over pebbles on the road
The SSSL's springs are really, really stiff. My rear just clears the guards and it doesn't make a difference at all if its a full car load or just me. Also i dont think my car looks like its carrying a fat chick around in the rear lol, if you can get the front spring height right as well it looks fine being said though it is low and rough to drive around. I wouldnt do it on a work car ie. work ute if i was a tradie

Well that worked for me, i have SSSL's at rear and SSL's at front as mentioned and i think it looks pretty even. But the shocks wont make a difference to ride height at all, only springs adjust the height. The shortened shockers are just there for a better ride. lol @ fat homeless chick
yeah.. maybe i should play it safe and go SSL's all round so the trays still useful if need be - anythings gotta look better than the 5cm gap i got between the wheel arches atm
Guys, sorry to bring this up again. i have a vt sedan,
i'm thinking about putting SL's at the front and just wanna make sure that i need SSL's at the rear just to make the car sit dead even, am i right?
also, according to King Spring ...
KHFL-47SL (super low) for the front, right ?
KHRL-46SLHD (ultra low) for the rear, right ? is ultra low mean super super low ?
where did you guys get those SSSL's parts from ? could not see it on Kings web site tho ...
Thanks in advance
Cheers
Also, another question regarding the rear springs that i'm going to buy, do i really need to get HD (i assuming that mean heavy duty) cause, i'm not gonna carry any passengers or big sound system, big subs box tho..
i'm bit worry that HD springs gonna be too bumpy or too harsh for my liking
Cheers
i got super low king springs put in my car yesterday.. the ride is a tiny bit bumpier but the look of the car compensates for that![]()
Yeah it sits nice, about a couple of cm's above my tyres (got 17's) and it doesnt scrape on speed humps and driveways at all.
I will put a pic up for you tomorrow arvo.
yeah, i'm pretty sure u have ur part numbers right mate, not to sure where we got the SSSL's - that was meant to mean ultra lows
from what most ppl say, you should go supers at the front and ultra's at the back to make it sit level... if you go supers all round it will sit a bit higher at the back
the shockies make a big difference as well to the ride quality
