No it has to be to suit a VT 5.0.
BE very careful when choosing a replacement compressor for your 5.0 ltr VT.
Original vehicle fit to the VT was a Delphi V5 compressor model number 1135262. The “V5” part of the number is the type of compressor. It is a 5 cylinder variable swash plate type of compressor that uses a pressure sensitive control valve to adjust the angle of the swash plate and there for the length of piston throw from no pump to 100% pump. The original compressor was made out of the Delphi factory and Holden experienced thousands of warranty issues with them over the entire production run of the VT. The main three problems were leaking front seals, a premature wear of the adjustable pivot point causing them to go to the no pump position and a faulty discharge leaf valve plate that would break the rivets on the plate and cause equalised suction and discharge pressure. Delphi tried several times to fix the various problems but never particularly successfully. The probable reason you are looking for a new pump is because your original has done exactly this. BUY THE SAME TYPE OF COMPRESSOR AND YOU MAY EXPERIENCE THE SAME FAULT AGAIN!
You need a P/N 2026.
When you find a cheap one let me know lol.
I've got the same problem with the exact same car. I have a 2nd hand compressor in the post, not sure of the pt no. What I want to know is, am I going to be able to install it myself. The hoses looked to need a special tool ?
i thought you needed to be licensed and whatever to deal with r134 and whatever cancer causing refrigerant they are using
i think it's the same problem with all VTs be it ecotec or LS1... they all shat their compressors so you shouldn't buy wrecker compressors because 99% chance they are already all ####ed
I would just mount the compressor with the hoses off and get the sparky to do the rest. Thats all im going to do.
I also agree with Tony. You really should buy a new one. The compressor is full of rubber O Rings and stuff. They perish after not being used for a while. You may be wasting what you paid for the compressor, $100 worth of gas plus labour.
Even with a good compressor in the winter, the A/C should be run for 5mins once a week to keep everything lubed and the O Rings wet.
Have exactly the same (common) problem with mine. And yeah I agree mate your probably wasting your $$$ on a 2nd hand unit. They arnt cheap but I just shelled out for a new one and least I know its a good one then. And yeah you have to be licenced to use the AC gas etc. Best just to let an Auto Air tech handle the whole install
and prepared to be shocked at the final bill
nothing is cheap in auto air con
Yep. For a new compressor, rec drier, and preferably get a new tx valve, dont expect much under $1k for parts. Labour and gas then on top of that.
Yeah, I have cancelled the order for 2nd hand compressor. Had my doubts in purchasing one in the 1st place. Just hoping there isn't too many hot days til the new compressor arrives.
seen a new one on ebay about $500
$500 is about right for a LS1 or 5.0 one
bit less for a six
Went to a workshop today to get an idea on the labour to install and regas. I asked about a price for the compressor and was told about $900. I might be look'n else where to get it installed. What exactly is a receiver drier ?
i bought one from cooldrive in melbourne for $382 inc GST, $18 for the new o rings (which are a must) and $ 120 for re-gas and dye. It's a fairly simple job to fit, sould only take you about 20 minutes
