Hey all,
My Ecotec in my 97' VT wagon has been overheating lately.
I'm going to flush the radiator as the coolant is brown, but before I do, what is the best coolant to run in a 3.8L Ecotec?
I rather like the Nulon long life coolant at Supercheap.

a few common things that cause overheating (from a non mechanic) :
1. loosing water - somewhere leaking like cracked radaiator, hoses etc.
2. radiator corroded and clogged - if flushing doesn't work, need new radiator.
3. stuck thermostat - need new.
4. faulty water pump - broken blades etc, not pumping water sufficiently. need new.
5. thermo fan not coming on - when you turn on the aircon make sure the low speed fan comes on. if not the temp would go up to over half way mark before high speed kicks in. often the engine would overheat by then.
6. faulty radiator cap? - need new.
please feel free to add whatever i've missed ppl![]()
