VT fuel pump gauge problem

i had to change the fuel pump last week and the other day i was driving home and the car died, i ran outta fuel even thought the gauge said 160kms to go and 1/4 in the tank and filling it up the gauge only reads 3/4 fuel is there a known problem as its a new pump/sender from the dealership

i had the same problem i was told the sender is with the pump might have to take it back and tell them whats going on, i got the pump and filter and sender done for 295
