Default electric window conversion successful next climate control conversion

Hey guys just though i would drop a thread on the window conversion that was a success ,i finished it today and no dramas but the reason i am writing is that i tried for days to find out which wires to use to byspass the low bcm and it turned out to be the green+black and the orange+green wires had to be wired together to get the them to go down to bypass the automatic down function no big deal so if you are going to attempt this and need some pics email me on bhopperr@hotmail.com and ill forward you the pics of the bcm and the wires i had to join together now on to the climate control conversion should be fun ,i will do a write up on the climate control conversion as i doing a climate control heater box swap and going to try and wire it into the standard loom if all else fails i will have to do a whole loom swap but stay tuned as i going to do it in the next few weeks as the heater core has shit itself and its to cold to go with out and bit hard to see out the windows when its cold .

Hats of to you mate. Many have contemplated the climate control conversion - most go weak at the knees when they discover there is more to it than plugging in the climate control switch cluster. Sounds like you know what you are up for and are still keen - so good luck to you! I will be keen to learn how you get on.

Climate control is a thing of joy

    cheers

Good luck on the climate conversion - well worth the effort if your keeping the car for a while.

If the VT is anything like the VN it will be the 10 or so wires on the climate loom that will need to find a home for. Maybe a few more wires for the switching side of things and a re gas for the A/C.

hey guys where i am at the moment is that i know where everthing goes apart from the one wire which is the green and white wire ,well it has me stumped ,in the standard vt there a air-con input to the bcm but in climate control i am guessing it controlled by the serial bus as there is no whire for the air-con to switch it on which is a reall piss me of ,so for now i am doing a whole loom change fingers crossed the abs dosent play games as i dont have abs so ill just leave the plug there. i will be investigating this more as i thought well i dont have a high bcm which has a sdi chip in there, but i have been looking over the manual and just dawned on me that there is a sdi chip in the actual dash so i wondering if i wired the green and white wire up to the green and white wire that even a low bcm will reckonise the command and switch on the air-con that way rather than a 12v input from the standard air- con switch.

I had a couple of bourbans nowo and just pop it my head when i saw the dash diagram so i am spewing i already change the loom today to try this but i couldnt try anyway as my aircon needs regassing so guys do keep a look out for the post when i crackk it and also anyone that needs to do a heater core it piss easy i had the whole dash out in 1 hr not as daunting as people make out, and thanks to the electric screwdriver that made thing twice as quick and didnt even get tired. in 3 hr i had the standard loom out and the berlina loom in now just the heater box tommorow and back together.

also i have been looking into the standard box and how you would go about it the only thing i can pick as a big difference is the hot and cold actuator that obvoiusly moves all the time so i am thinking if i can an electric actuator or somthing that just open or closes when you want hot or cold so i will be hitting the standard box when i finish myn .

but also you have to keep in mind even if you used a standard box you would probably have to pull the heater box out to fit all the vaccum leads to the climate control valves but i will let you all know how it goes.

This sounds magic....that it can be done.

Are you contemplating doing a write up about the conversion anytime soon ?

Hi tigass yes i am just hard trying to find time to spend doing this and spending time with my girl ,not the misses by the way and work but i will be doing a writ eup on it but as i said i did a whole loom change as i had to do heater care as it decided to go on me a few weeks back so i did it as i had the whole lot here , i am also in the middle of trying to convert a standard heater box to climate control ,i just have to figure out ho i am going to select the hot and cold function as its driven by a rod and climate control have an eletcric actuator on the bottom so i am looking at alternatives for that and just need to figure out the air con part aswell as it is started different in the climate control module as the standard has a wire for ac request and climate control has a serial data wire which switches the air con on and also communicates with dash through this wire so i am playing with a module at the moment trying to find a point in there i can tap into so i can use a low-med bcm to switch on air con on so i will do a write up the next rainy day on the whole loom change which is as easy as changing an engine only hard part was the relay bank which was hard really had me cursing but if you tape the whole relay bank up with that grey electrical tape it should make things a bit easier ,but dr Bob told me when the car is put together the loom is through the firewall alread before it fitted to the car ,very cheeky but can be done so just keep a eyes out as i will do a write up on both .
