Can it be done? My local wreckers has a vy commodore with the full rear end intact and i was thinking about doing a conversion,
Would it be as simple as taking the whole rear panels (qtr panels, boot, garnish, rear bumper, lights, light moulds etc.) and bolting them up and welding light mould were the vx ones used to be?? If not could someone please tell me what is needed to complete the job?
And i do have access to all workshop tools, cutters welders etc.
Any help/info would be much appreciated! Cheers
Oh yea good idea, lol. I just want to know if it can be done.. Because i can get the car wreck for very cheap
with the right tools i suppose anything is possible i seen a vl once with a vy front and another vl with a vn back then there was the vp with the vz ss front so as i said ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE with the right amount of imagination
Rear quarters have to be cut and welded. Everything should marry up though but not a job you'd want to do if you don't want your car off the road for a fairly long while!
VX2 Executive Sedan - 3.8L Auto (for now)VT SS Sedan - Supercharged V6 Auto (Genuine L67 SS)VN SS Sedan - 5.0L 5 Speed Manual (Currently Balga spec waiting for panel and paint)
On this forum someone had a VN picture that had a VT rear end. Now if that can be done, anything else will be easy.
That car was in the Pub section ?.

My opinion is you would be better to sell it and buy a good VY there a much better car in a lot of ways. If you like the VT front then stick one of those onto the VY if you must as it would be a lot easier.
Best thing you could do to your VT with the VY parts off the wreck would be to fit the VY rear suspension and change the front sway bar to the VY setup or as much of the front end that will fit as they have a much improved road feel and handling over a VT.
yeah id just want convert to vy rear set up it is much better and guy i get my alliments off says his heard of ppl doing this and get alot less camber from the conversion bit of big job though
... mmm the car wouldnt be the same, insurance and all would be hard. Why dontcha just do a VY front end conversion?
mate go look at my VY irs into a VT its about 8 postdowni have done it did it a year ago ...
