Default VT/VX To VY/VZ rear end conversion..

Can it be done? My local wreckers has a vy commodore with the full rear end intact and i was thinking about doing a conversion,

Would it be as simple as taking the whole rear panels (qtr panels, boot, garnish, rear bumper, lights, light moulds etc.) and bolting them up and welding light mould were the vx ones used to be?? If not could someone please tell me what is needed to complete the job?

And i do have access to all workshop tools, cutters welders etc.

Any help/info would be much appreciated! Cheers

Rear quarters have to be cut and welded. Everything should marry up though but not a job you'd want to do if you don't want your car off the road for a fairly long while!

On this forum someone had a VN picture that had a VT rear end. Now if that can be done, anything else will be easy.

That car was in the Pub section ?.

It's not worth it given the cost of the conversion unless you can weld it properly and paint it. My opinion is you would be better to sell it and buy a good VY there a much better car in a lot of ways. If you like the VT front then stick one of those onto the VY if you must as it would be a lot easier.
Best thing you could do to your VT with the VY parts off the wreck would be to fit the VY rear suspension and change the front sway bar to the VY setup or as much of the front end that will fit as they have a much improved road feel and handling over a VT.
