what a F***ed job. i have undone the drivers side mount with ease. the passenger side is bullshit!!! ive undone 2 of the compressor nuts and the 3rd (first from the left on the engine) had to be cut down with a die grinder then chiseled around with a scewdriver as i had extreme trouble with spanners and sockets slipping off it!!! now that ive undone the compressor and its out of the way...i just cant seem to get any luck with this job - the mount bracket bolts (3 of them bolt to the block) are that tight that spanners and sockets are slipping off aswell!!!! as in ive started to round the edges of the bolt head so ive stopped cos i dont wanna f*** the bolts and make the job more difficult..
questions:
- the mount bracket bolts are 16mm right?
- will it be easier to remove the oil sump to gain access to the inside nut at the top of the mount?
- is there any tips that one could tell me in regards to removing the mounts calmly?
Did you use plenty of WD40/RP7 or equivalent before you tried to undo the nuts? The nuts are only supposed to have had 35-65 Nm torque. Perhaps if you use a breaker bar and give it a smack with your hand it might break the seal. Also you didn't say whether you used an engine crane to remove the weight from the mounts.
used a jack under the gearbox with a piece of wood. yeah used a heap of INOX spray and still no budge...i gave in and left (car is at my mates tyre shop on a pneumatic ramp) and they eventually got the 3 16mm bolts undone from the passenger side mount. hooking into it tomorrow. massive stuff around doing these mounts....
