hi im just looking at full turbo setups for my vt v6, i was wondering is it as simple as bolting it all on, getting a tune etc.
or do you have to do other things to put the turbo on? like is there pre-requisites, i think its just a pretty basic 6-10psi turbo or something like that nothing mental lol.
thanks for the help in advance guys!!
obviously correct me if im wrong but stock n/a ecotecs will only handle 3psi max lol any more you will need to change pistons and all the internal parts
see how much it will cost to rebuild your motor then compare that to a second hand L76(supercharged ecotec)... just take the superhcharger off and slap a turbosh on
i'd re-build mine but it all depends on the dollars you have![]()
btw i hope that helps in any way shape or form =P
10psi is not a 'basic turbo' upgrade
haha ahh damnnn its just a garret turbo, not sure on the psi its running, it doesnt look like anything mental ill have to have a look and see what kind of psi its actually running. , if not cant i just get a boost controller and set it lower? lol
some manifolds, a turbo ,some bigger injectors, intercooler ,oil feed kit ,and tune she be good for 10psi max
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong

you cant just put it on and off you go lol you'd need stronger internals...
lol it doesnt look mental but it probably is hahaha
tell that to all the other people with stock engines and huge turbos theres heaps of us running dead stock upto 500000km engines on boost no worries

when you say stock engines... you mean stock ecotecs yeah?
yip and the buicks both dont do too bad with boost

all i have to say is if you put a turbo on a stock ecotec without changing the internals your game as they will only handle 3psi max
these arn'y my words.. asked my head mechanic whos been working on cars and building engines for 15-20 years![]()
iblown has run a little over 10psi for ages so do many others on here and street commodores.fit ran 19psi i think it was in there stock one during testingthey love boost i wouldnt run much past 10 myself in an ecotec westerly breeze on here runs 12psi daily and he has ported heads and shit on a fully stock bottom end lots of raptor blowers as well on the ecotecs pushing good psi
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong

stock ecotecs can take 6-8 psi easy l67 can take a lot more obviously
well there is obviously proof they can run that much boost then i might get ahold of a turbo![]()
but you have to at least change the head gasket to change the compression either higher or lower right... its not just a bolt on and off you go..
sorry alittle confused =P
just bolt it on fit intercooler injectors fuel pump and get a tune and away you go![]()

thanks for the help guys, and when u say tune assuming you mean a dyno with mapping right? lol. im bidding an a turbo kit for my vt and just wanted to make sure it was all in the clear before i go ahead, and it came of a vs v6, so assuming my vt can handel it with its few little mods haha
just the entire kid, fuel pump, injectors, 70mm throttle, intercooling kit, air intake, exhaust and a dyno tune, should be good for my little 6'er![]()
If its the one on EBay with 5 days to go, you know its from Frankston right? Getting good stuff from Frankston is like trying to find a non-STD hooker in Darwin. LOL.

i my tafe teacher actually told me that they wont be able to handle it.. i did a bit of research last night and yeah figured out he has no idea![]()
acarmody i saw that one but nah this one is from my mechanic LOL! agreed a good pickup in frankston is like buying a commodore off a p plater, whether u think its good or not, your pretty much fu*k*d LOL!![]()

i know u can get the twin turbo kits from ebay, i think they CLAIM to give you 220rwkw on a vt v6 with just an exhaust. not too sure on if thats true numbers but thought id let you know.
my mechanic said he had it running 8 psi on his vs series 1 accliam, looks like ill be getting this kit off him, 2k fitted which i thinks pretty good![]()
Ecotecs will handle up to 12psi without any serious dramas, which is why most people with turbo setups run around 7-10psi. If you want more then you will need to rebuild your motor. I've seen a 3800 (motor the Ecotec superseded) with 380,000km on the clock with a turbo running 7psi and has been running fine for 12 months without a rebuild first.
