    Default turbocharging a vt

hi im just looking at full turbo setups for my vt v6, i was wondering is it as simple as bolting it all on, getting a tune etc.

or do you have to do other things to put the turbo on? like is there pre-requisites, i think its just a pretty basic 6-10psi turbo or something like that nothing mental lol.

thanks for the help in advance guys!!

obviously correct me if im wrong but stock n/a ecotecs will only handle 3psi max lol any more you will need to change pistons and all the internal parts

see how much it will cost to rebuild your motor then compare that to a second hand L76(supercharged ecotec)... just take the superhcharger off and slap a turbosh on

i'd re-build mine but it all depends on the dollars you have

all i have to say is if you put a turbo on a stock ecotec without changing the internals your game as they will only handle 3psi max

these arn'y my words.. asked my head mechanic whos been working on cars and building engines for 15-20 years

but you have to at least change the head gasket to change the compression either higher or lower right... its not just a bolt on and off you go..

    sorry alittle confused =P

thanks for the help guys, and when u say tune assuming you mean a dyno with mapping right? lol. im bidding an a turbo kit for my vt and just wanted to make sure it was all in the clear before i go ahead, and it came of a vs v6, so assuming my vt can handel it with its few little mods haha
just the entire kid, fuel pump, injectors, 70mm throttle, intercooling kit, air intake, exhaust and a dyno tune, should be good for my little 6'er

If its the one on EBay with 5 days to go, you know its from Frankston right? Getting good stuff from Frankston is like trying to find a non-STD hooker in Darwin. LOL.

i know u can get the twin turbo kits from ebay, i think they CLAIM to give you 220rwkw on a vt v6 with just an exhaust. not too sure on if thats true numbers but thought id let you know.

my mechanic said he had it running 8 psi on his vs series 1 accliam, looks like ill be getting this kit off him, 2k fitted which i thinks pretty good

Ecotecs will handle up to 12psi without any serious dramas, which is why most people with turbo setups run around 7-10psi. If you want more then you will need to rebuild your motor. I've seen a 3800 (motor the Ecotec superseded) with 380,000km on the clock with a turbo running 7psi and has been running fine for 12 months without a rebuild first.
