I am just wondering if ALL SV6's came with LSD? I am currently in the market - definately looking for a VZ SV6. Hoping for manual but considering the semi auto. How can I confirm LSD fitted?
Any comments based on experience regrding the semi-auto?
I'm assuming I will have to learn to do without climate control?
I guess removing the rear wing will leave some ugly holes in the boot?
Cheers
there should be a tag from the hole where you fill it with fluid that says LSD.. but im 100% sure all ve sv6's have a lsd, not to sure about the vz's..
and yes there will be big ugly holes in the boot... i guess you could get them fixed up but i'd just leave the spoiler on
lol buy a manual haha you will regret it after buying a semi-auto
I have a test drive today with a semi-auto, but yeh, I am not expecting too much - It's just that the manuals are hard to find and tend to cost like $4k more. I'm not in a rush to buy, so will most likely hold out for a manual, but keeping an open mind at this stage. Cheers
yeah i reckon its hilarious that when any commodores comes out the manual is cheaper then down the track its more expensive =P
but yeah my opinion just hold out till you find a good deal on a manualhow much you have?
Hmmmmm. So you don't want a spoiler.......you wouldn't mind going semi-auto over manual.......you sound like you do prefer climate control.....I have an idea........Go for a VZ Calais.
It has same engine, same trans if going auto, same diff, but so very much more luxury. And many extras are not known until you actually own the VZ Calais and can see for yourself the little extras here and there. I wouldn't ever go a poverty pack spec SV6 when the Calais provides so much more in other areas.
For example, compared to SV6, the Calais has climate control, full elec seats both driver and passenger, upmarket velour or leather trim, rear adjustable headrests, full control of electric aerial, better looking dash, carpet under boot lid, compromise of sport/luxury FE1.5 suspension, lights in glove box and centre console, 4 airbags, etc etc etc. There are many more extras and some of these features may be on some SV6's, but go the Calais for highest feature/luxury level possible.
Plus the Alloytec Calais has ESP and is an amazing safety feature. If you have never owned a car with ESP, then you won't understand until you have. Its a smarter version of traction control over the other models in the VZ apart from statesman and acclaim, plus is has Electronic Brake Assist, and Brake Assist (this is different), Corner Brake control, etc etc;

Ooops - yeh good call, but as a current VX'er I posted here from habit
Looking to spend < $15k if I can get away with it...
You know - you have a bloody good point. My last 3 cars have been Calais, and I started looking at the VZ calais, but really wanted to go manual, so went to the SV6. You are correct - I should only be considering SV6 if it comes with a manual box - otherwise I should be looking at a calais. It gets complicated though - because the same money buys SV6 manual or a Calais....
The other thing though is the LSD, very important consideration - do Calais come with LSD? - I'll check that link you posted and see how many answers I find
Thankyou for all replies.
To summarise - I do love the calais, but would like a manual, but I must have the Alloytec190 and LSD. I'll be doing some mad research next coupla days...
