hi i changed the spark plugs today on my vt and now when i start it, it shakes and shudders really bad until i drive it for about 40 seconds then its fine, until i stop and start it again and it shakes and shudders like hell. how could changing the plugs do this? and why does it go away after a driving for awhile?
Check all the leads to see if they have clicked back on all the way.
MY RIDE
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
Maybe you've cracked one or more of the leads, or half pulled an end off one of the leads/damaged them as you were removing the leads to change the plugs?
I was doing the leads and plugs on my neighbors VT and one of the leads had like corroded/rusted onto the plug. When I went to remove it, the end of the lead styed there, while the lead itself came out in my hand :/ lol...
i had a similiar problem, one of my leads wasnt pushed all the way on
ok checked the leads and they all seem ok? the missus just drove off and you can hear it missing really bad
Are the lead's on in the right order? :/ lol,
Did you overtighten a spark plug and crack it? ( I've done it once before...)
On my old car vr v6....I had new spark plugs on for only 1000 km.....Until same thing happened to me ....Car started shaking...And feel like its missing???.......
I don't know maybe one plug is faulty???
I read on one post a few months ago......"look at your engine while running...In the dark"" maybe you will see a spark jumping????
Yeah mate. Fully check your plugs, and if they are all ok I would get a new set of leads
hey guys that happen to me once with my old vn i did a service on it and it was the 1st service i did on it being my 1st holden ever so i naturally went to holden and brought plugs and it turn out to be the plugs from holden 2 of them were stuffed ,best way to tell what cylinder it is if you can get to the injectors plugs pull them off one at a time and see weither it makes a difference if you take one off and it runs more rough than what it was its not that cylinder but if you unplug one and it remains the same its probably that cylinder playing up and if that dont work oh well throw a spanner at it
I would say it is a faulty spark plug because a faulty plug will sometimes come good once it is warmed up.
i'd take bhoppers advice.. but use moulded plyers lol or you might get a little zap ahaha.. some might say thats common sense but i have seen a guy do it lol
i had the same problem and thats how i diagnosed it![]()
I'd get a diagram and make sure that the leads have been put in the correct order. If so, then take the plugs out and check for cracks in them. It's very very easy to crack a plug even without over-tightening them.
well i gave up and put the old worn plugs back in and it runs fine now....
check the resistance on each lead, even new plugs can fail thats the best way 2 rule out the leads. but sounds like its the plugs if the old 1ns work lol.
try swap 1 new plug over at a time with the old lot and see if that makes a difference? if not then go 2 the next plug with another new plug and u'd rolly find ur faulty plug/s
