HELP! VX SS - Oil Problem No Reading?

Hi Guys,

Today 10/07/2010 I decided to do a oil change on my VX SS Gen3 V8 commodore.
I dropped the oil as usual and filter as you do... but cut a long story short I put in roughly 4.5ltrs of Castrol Magnatec 10w/40 and added (stupidly) "Lucas Engine Stabilizer oil" roughly added 500 to 700mils of it. After checking the dip stick I was Shocked to see that that there’s stuff oil in the sump, roughly around 1cm under the ADD line!! So I waited about half hour and checked again! - getting the same result!! So after a lot of thought and it being a Saturday arvo I decided to start the car.. Ok so the cars running normally so I leave it run for about 10mins straight (no oil light on) the heat temp goes to its certain heat as usual and stops. I turn the car off waited 1hr and pull the dip stick.. I get the same result there is no oil change in sump! What’s going on I have never had this ever before adding that *BEEPING* lucas additive and didn’t even the whole 1 litre as it state. Im scared to drive the vehicle now as engines aren’t cheap and there wasn’t anything wrong with it in the beginning, just wanted to see if it might quieten the motor a bit! Can you please help or advise me on what to do or try!

Can someone please tell me how much oil is suppose to go into the GEN 3 Vx SS engine???? is there like a loop pole that you poor so much in and it doesnt go to the bottom till you reach a certain amount? maybe i should put more in?

I have also read sooooo many threads about how other people with Holden Gen 3s have used it without issue at all!! and also a load of americans that have had great results... i just dont get it im stuck bad ways..

Ok My Bad big time... Takes 6ltrs roughly oil to be safe... LOL it been a loooong week.. just toped it up!! Seems O.K
