what oil to use in vx ss

hay just wondering what oil i should use in my vx ss gen 3
i just brought penrite hpr5 (sae 5w-40) is this the best stuff to use

Hi, I dont think id us 5W seems way to thin to me!! even if fully synthetic. I use 10w/40 Magnatec. I use to use Penrite but heard from a CAT engineer that penrite oils have little to no detergent. how tru that is i dont know. But it never use to sludge in my engine but did go dark colour fast! but yeh at the moment i use Magnatec 10W/40 will upgrade in about 5000ks to 10W/50 or something and i add Lucas oil Stab. Keeps it quiet and smooth!

Castrol Edge 10w60 seems to be a popular choice.

thanks i was only going off what the penrite book said to use but will take it back and get magnatec 10 /50 will also get some oil stab so it stays nice and quiet
