hey guys i have a vt series 1 manual with about 270000 k's on the clock. Everything runs fine, except the thrust bearing is shot (saving up for that one), and also when I'm trying to take off with low revs and letting the clutch out slowly, the car kinda 'rocks' back and forth just slightly, not like kangaroo hopping or anything, just feels like the clutch not wanting to grip up and ive had some troubles while putting my foot down in second gear with the revs increasing just a bit before the road speed... which shouldn't really happen in a manual i wouldn't think. is my clutch starting to go?
i would say yes your clutch is slipping because the revs are building before speed
and i'd say your clutch needs to be replaced before you start slipping in first and can't move anywhere
Chev badges are an instant fail
Take her for a spin, and labour the balls outa her, like full throttle high gear, low speed.. if its gona slip, its gona slip then
First of all, does the clutch hydraulic system need bleeding/flushing? There is only about 100-200ml of fluid in the system, so a flush is easy to do while you bleed it.
If your hydraulic system has no air in it and is fairly clean, then when driving up a slight hill in fourth, accelerate heavily and see if the revs increase because the clutch is slipping. You should have a good idea of what's going on by then.
Or you will need a tow truck. Are you doing the job yourself? Fairly simple but don't forget to get the flywheel machined or you will have short clutch life.
