being a ute and an SS one at that, its probably been caned to the shithouse.....i wouldnt pay more than 6-7 k for it

you maybe right on that one. it also depends wether its got high k's simply due to highway driving. check service history as well,how long has the current owner had it for,what he used it for,what sort of bloke he seems like,wether engine had any work done etc just the usual things.
even if an owner says to you,well i never really used it during the week,i only used it mostly on sundays. for all you know they could have gone drag racing with it on sundays,lol

Also depends on how much you are prepared to spend on it after you buy it when the diff falls out or the motor starts spitting rings out the exhaust.
