VT heads

I can't remember but a post on here included the statement that ecotec heads were cast iron. I borrowed a Max Ellerys VT VX VY manual and it tells me ecotec heads are cast aluminium. I can't tell by looking, can anybody tell me which they are, iron or aluminium?
