Just been tinkering with the VX and disconnected the battery.
Obviously I need to reload the radio code which I have but I cannot get it to accept the code.
I have followed the instructions including making sure that the ignition is in the acc position.
What am I doing wrong?
The tinkering involved replacing the SRM for the airbag
Apart from just putting in the 4 digit code there is nothing else you can do. Maybe it isn't the original radio.
MY RIDE
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
try this...
push and hold mode and up button then turn the car to ignition.. push the mode button one and it will give you 4 numbers... those 4 numbers might be your radio code..
it was mentioned by someone on the forum a while ago.
worth a try.
and like mentioned, might not be original unit.
Just a final post to say... job done.
Spoke to the original car owner (my old man) and he seemed to recall that he may have had a problem with the CD during warranty.
Sure enough my friends at Holden were able to confirm that they had two radio pins on file for the car in the service history and sure enough the second radio serial number matched the one in the car now and the pin worked. Halleluya.... Pity they didn't put the new pin in the service book
Think I'll put the tools away again for a while until I forget what a pain working on modern cars can be...
you think working on a vt/vx is hard?
the last car i owned was a 300zx.. at factory height you could not get a trolley jack under it, had to use the standard jack to get a corner up then i could get a trolley under there.
same as my STi.
with the commodore at standard height i dont even jack it up to do my service, nothing needs to be moved around to do the spark plugs, no covers nothing.
get your tools back out and have some fun.. really simple cars these commodores.
