Well my SS has a Fibro Monaro kit all round via fibreglass its got a good amount of gloss coats so it wont scratch as easy but yeh. its not the strongest thing feels firm to the hand but will break quite easy if u were to push ur front end into a curb in a car park quite hard, iv also noticed with other peoples cheaper kits it tends to break where its screwed on to the side of the car (fender). but in general seriousness it will be fine as long as its good quality! if its cheap.. then it is cheap all round and wont las 20 seconds. a good kit can withstand a lot of bashes and scrubbing without hurting it to much and can be fixed quite easily. They are light and easy to fit but also sometimes need modification to fit so if you get it new make sure you do a test fit before you take it to get sprayed and that incase you need to get a bit cut out of it so it fits better.

Secondly a Genuine kit will set u back quite a lot of money for a good one! unless you like ebay like me haha! but if you have the money and find one cheap enough get it! you wont regret it and yes they are strong as, as they are plastic and you cna paint them any colour you like to match your car. They also bolt up easier and look a touch better then a fiberglass kit. in the light!

u will pay more for the genuine ones but well worth it in the long run as drift-it mentioned, and yes no problem re spraying them just have to make sure u plastic prime them or the paint will "fry" or "ripple" and sometimes peel off weeks later, brother is a painter so take it from me . Hope this helps
    opps wont do that again

Ive had a fibre kit on my vt for about 4 years now and just last week it got to the point where all the mounting points were broken.

Ive taken the kit off and refibreglassed these points. However you have to be super careful driving with them.
Drive ways are your worse nightmare..Prepare for the sideways crab crawl to get up drive ways lol

Ive got a fibreglass kit on mine, had it for awhile.. It took a bit of modification to get it on there, but its never been a problem.. I had someone slam their brakes on and i hit them probably 20 - 30 k's and it was ALOT better than expected when I got out and had a look. But in saying that when I bought the car it had a VT clubsport fibreglass kit on it and that just never seemed to want to fit, so I guess its just where you get it from.

as most have said, a fibreglass kit doesn't have much flex in it what soever. All it takes is an incompetent driver in a car park to back into your fibreglass bumper to crack it, and that's massive repair bills. Genuine plastic, however, will flex and as long as there's no punctures probably the worst to happen would be a stress crack in the paint. Easily fixed for around $100 or so.

You might get lucky and it won't break, but it's less likely with plastic.
I haven't lost my mind, it's backed up on tape somewhere
