VT 5L oil pressure problems

Hi guys and gals, This has probably been discussed before. I have a VT SS 5L. The oil pressure light came on and then tappet noise. I changed oil pumps, took sump off and cleaned pick up filter, new gaskets, oil etc. Oil pressure good now at medium to high revs but warning light comes on at idle with no oil pressure.

maybe clean/ replace the oil pressure sender. what weight oil are you running? a few mechanics have told me oil around the weight range of Penrite HPR 30 is good for a 5L thats not too flogged out. maybe HPR 40 if its done a few kays and had a hard life

Thanx dirt drifter. Motor A1 condition and tried new sender, new pump & filter, new oil 20w50. Bottom end all ok. Might have to look at installing a mechanical gauge maybe so I can see exactly what is happening at idle. This baby might end up on the fire heap.
