howdy,
im looking to upgrade my normal lights (stocks atm) because the light they put out is fair shit to be honest. Ive researched a bit and people say that Narva is a big no no so im probably going to look at phillips and most probably their "see Clearer" or "be Seen" range
only problem is that they say dont use them with plastic headlights. as far as i know the vt's were fittted with plastic headlights so does that mean i cant use them?
and as im swapping into a VT series II im pretty sure ill need the H4's for the high/low beam and the H3's for the High beam but can anyone confirm this?
also does anyone have any suggestions/problems that they ran into installing or in general what to get?
as far as i can tell the H4's and H3's should just be a plain swap over
Cheers in advance guys
If you don't mind spending a few extra bucks, H I D is the way to go. You get far better light with better range and you're using less wattage (35 watts) so you don't fry your plastic headlight lenses. I will be fitting them to my VT when I get a few other things sorted. Driving to Qld from Sydney is no joke with standard lighting, specially out in the boondocks up round Moree with the roos and cows wandering across the roads
some one gets prices and pics ? im interested =) i live out in the country ... best thing i did was put a monaro frount on .... i love the lil foggies haha
ebay for a start, $47 for a kit with 12 months warranty up to $200ish and more if you have the dollars
are they really that much better than getting new globes from like phililips though like halogens? price wise its probably cheaper but im looking at feedback from people etc
Headlight globes what to get???
PRH on this link seemed to think so... i dont know man have you got them? what are your thoughts on them?
Totally agree with graham7773. I have them on my car and they are bright. Mine's 6000k which I picked up on ebay for around $100 including postage. Only thing you will cop is the person going the opposite direction flashing at you if you don't adjust the headlight down.
Totally get HIDs thye give out a way better light then the standard globe
Just another point on the numbers. 6000K is about right. Higher, 8000K, is bluer. Lower, 4000K is more white with some yellow. as for your adjustment, just use normal height adjustment. Never use high beam if you can see another car even a kilometre away. You will definitely get flashed. The boys in blue don't like it either. My son had a flashing contest with a highway patrol car a few years ago in my car. I had 90/130s and the cop flashed my boy even though he was on low beam. Son flashed back with high beam, cop flashed his driving lights on and my son turned my twin 120 watt Hellas on and flashed the cop again. Took my boy about 20 minutes to talk his way out of that one
I had them in my VT. Best decision ever. Though they're not roadworthy, unless you have a self leveling system, lens washers etc.
I had 6000k High & Low beams installed and never once had a problem with the cops, though I got flashed heaps. It only took one flash of mine for them to realize that they're not on high beam haha. Though I did have one bloke follow me to work just to have a go at me for my stupid lights. He was going to report me to the Police / Vic Roads because they're too dangerous. Then when one of the other blokes from work turned up (he's got HID's too), the bloke went nuts telling us we're hoons, immature, and should be locked up.
But seriously, that was the best mod I did to my car. And even the new owner of my car was impressed.

Id like to see a picture of them installed. Im interested also!
yeah man that sounds like the real deal but from my research if youve got a series one vt then you'll need a H1 Socket for your highs but if youve got a series 2 then youll need a H3 socket
so what are you gonna do about that?
thats partially what detracts me from buying a set because you gotta get two sets really lol
are you sure because in the item description it says "It comes with everything you need to have your lights converted, no extra parts or special modifications required"

I have looked into getting HIDs for my vt as they lower power usage and give a brighter light, but its not as simple as whacking a globe in, the setup actually requires drilling through the rear light cover for the wiring im pretty sure they use a ballist which allows them to have such a bright light as such low power usage. My mate put them in a vt senator and it cost him around $200-300 off ebay for a decent set and he put them in himself. But the result you get is worth it, from memory they range from 3000 (still yellow) to 15,000 (they turn purple) as said above 6000 is very bright is very bright so i wouldnt recommend going over 6000, another option which is alot cheaper is the phillips gas filled headlights which give out %50 more light and simple as swapping out globs
where seller did he get them from mate? theres to many to compair

Correct me if I'm wrong but Kelvin is just the color difference not the brightness, brightness would be rated in Lumen wouldn't it?
A higher Kelvin rating will help, but the higher Lumen rating will make the light brighter.
