hi guys iv just bought a 2000 modell series II vt acclaim, coming from a v8 vs ss im looking to get more horsepower, speed and torque outta my new vt. whats the best way to go about this as i do not wana drop a v8 into it any help and ideas would be appreciated cheers.
Do the airhole breather cut out mod? sure its in the HOW TO section... or change to a CAI and get a full exhaust and tune.. about the only thing you can do without going too exp. turbo/super etc.....
Diff gear change to 3.9:1.
wouldnt bother with a v6
i somewat agree with you mate but iv'e just come from a vs ss v8 and i had that for a few years and wasn't happy with it so i sold it to my mate and bought this for just a cruise street car as i love my 4x4's and im just doing this one up for an everyday ride and i just want some grunt without going v8. each to their own ey
Why not, brings the torque and power curve forward closer to where he needs it.Tall gears are only good for economy or spooling turbos,he wants more acceleration/power.I know first gear is short in the 4speed but this is a great addition when N/A.Im sure he wants to go from 0-100 quicker not 100-200 quicker?
Theres a reason a R31 Skyline will abollish a VL everytime is due to the shorter gear ratios,3.7 manual 0r 3.9 auto VS 3.45 for the VL.
To say this means you havent done or experienced this change before. An identical car without this mod against his will be seen in his rear vision mirror by the end of the intersection.lol.
Correct me if Im wrong or is it the cost involved that doesnt appeal to you?

thanks karlos im appreciating your comments from wat ive heard not just from you about doing the diff ratios i think i would like to get it done i mean it cant hurt anyway so why not do you know how much it would cost and where in brissy would be good to get it done im yet to find a good trustworthy mechanic
Not being in your state I can only speculate where to go for a diff specialist. As to cost well it isnt going to be cheap.Good 2nd hand gears, bearing, seals, setting up the lash, fluids ect I cant see much change out of $800.Going new gears will be 13-1500$ depending on what you pay for the gears. They are between 7-900$ genuine. Is their a place called Real Dyno Performance where you are.Heard good things out of that stable.
Might be an expensive mod for something you cant see but by comparrison it will beat a full exhaust equiped matching vehicle without waking up the neioghbours. Its my next mod for my VX,im only going 3.7s though due to the charger.
diff gears and supercharger is the only worthwhile mod on a v6 but diff gears wont give you horsepower
i dont mean it like that. its just not worth waisting the money. if you want power either turbo/supercharge and fork out over 10G or buy a v8 to begin with. the ecotech motors arnt that great. everyone has their own opinion tho
he's alrdy said he doesnt want an 8 so is chosing the v6 route, he asked for mods to help with power not your opinion
have a look at this thread mate, will give ya some good info Buick and Ecotec V6 Performance Upgrades
Force induction is pretty much the only route to get any kind of V8 power ranges on the Ecotec. It would also be the most cost efficient. You could spend twice as much on other methods and get no-where near the same output.
If you're after cheap improvements, Pod filter with bigger Throttle Body, extractors and exhaust, all coupled with a custom tune. It's better than stock and reasonably priced. If you want to go further, then seriously consider forced induction.
I haven't lost my mind, it's backed up on tape somewhere
Wow,some of the suggestions here are borderline pointless, some even own the particular engine.Maybe you guys are in the wrong colours?
If anyones seen V6 Vengances results from a Buick why would the same things not respond on a more advanced Buick. If your going to give "no" answers for peoples suggestions then atleast give an educated reason.Theres enough crap advice on this forum at times.
Wheres that troll spray............
