need help urgently, i was replacing the front springs on my car (99 VT V6 auto) and after doing so i went to start my car and it struggled to crank over then died - im thinking it a flat/stuffed battery...so i get my gf's dad to jump start my car from his landcruiser ute - car cranks over and over and over but will not start??!! i have no idea why!!!
- while i was doing the springs the car was unlocked and the key in the ignition.
- ive tried locking then unlocking the car and starting it but it just keeps cranking over..
what could be the problem? the car has never done this!! in saying that, i have been having trouble with it starting lately - battery playing up i assume?
i need my car to drive to work as i work 40km out of town and i gotta 6am start so i really need my car tomorrow...
if you dont mind can somebody call me and possibly guide me through recifying the problem? - 0403949786, its urgent!!
cheers for any help
make sure your battery terminals are tight on your battery
they are, they've been cleaned and connected tight. wouldnt crank over by itself so i got my gf's dad's landcruiser ute to jump it with his battery - the engine is cranking over fine but not firing up?
I had a similiar issue and it was the fuel pump, could try banging the fuel tank while cranking over. could also be alot of other things like CAS etc
yep all the fuses are fine. its as though theres no fuel in the car (got quarter of tank left). im stumped, i cant think of why it would randomly do this. it was sitting with the keys in the ignition for 2hrs while i changed the front springs. get in to start it up and it failed to crank over even twice. so we tried jump starting it - it cranks over and over but refuses to start up....fuses are fine, battery terminals are tight...battery's probly stuffed but it should have started with the jump battery...i had to jump start it on sunday just gone and it did so fine...Did you check your fuse's???????
why Lord why...
should you be able to hear it "prime" when the key is switched to accessories? (when all the cluster lights come on before you start the car) cos if thats the case then i dont think so, i didnt notice any noise???+1 can you hear the fuel pump prime
Fuel pump is ****ed!...
Similar thing happened to the missus car not long ago, was driving and running fine, park it in the drive for 15min, go to leave again and nothing... Same symptoms! I would try changing the fuel pump relay (it should be the same as one of the others), if that doesn't work try the fuel pump.

are you getting fuel? but it sounds like the fuel pump
mine has a flat battery - jumped it with a cruiser ute and the engine was cranking over and over and over but just wouldnt fire up not even a hint. will swap a relay if i can find a match and get back to yas.Fuel pump is ****ed!...

cheers everybody!!!
so i swapped relays with an identical one and im not sure what i should hear? is it a ticking noise? sounds like im an idiot but ive never had this happen so i dont know what to expect. if the fuel pump relay was stuffed would that stop the pump working altogether? i hate shit like this, car was working fine up until i turned it off to do something...f*** me dead...
okay my vt wouldn't start, plenty fuel pressure, spark and cranking, couldn't figure it until checking the fuel itself was "stale" dirty brown, emptied tank and filled with clean, hey presto goes...maybe something.
Hey i had the same problem with my 98 vt commodore i changed the oil filter and filled up the tank and it was fine so maybe its your oil filter mate
