Default Mass Air Flow Meter Blown "Gaze"

My VX is on LPG and has just been serviced by Holden. The mechanic picked up that the mass airflow meter gaze (did he mean gauze?) has blown out. The air box is also damaged so I guess the engine backfied at some stage.

I can replace the air box myself. But is the blown "gaze" a problem? And can I get it repaired or try sourcing a seconds hand original - or maybe look for a cheaper aftermarket meter. I am guessing that a Holden MAF meter will be expensive.

It is best to have it in there, see if you can get one from a wrecker, I doubt whether you will be able to by the mesh separately. Check with Holden anyway, it may be that they do sell it separately without having to buy the whole MAF.

It diffuses the air going over the sensor so that the ECU gets a consistent reading from it.

Thanks - will start with Holden and if it is too expensive will try the wreckers
