    Default VT Redback exhaust

    Hi everyone ,

Im looking at buying a 2.5" redback exhaust with extractors and i was wondering if i should cut the resonator out? does it make a difference in the noise and does it cause any problems?

    thanks

No resonator on the VT will make it louder and more droney, especially if it is an auto.

I do Wildcat extractors and a Manta 2 1/2" exhaust (WA Redback equivelant) $675 shipped. If you want it without the resonator, I do the tail pipe too. $635 shipped for that one. Comes with all gaskets and clamps. Bolt on too, no welding required, a bit of cutting involved when fitting the extractors though as you retain your original Y pipe.

sorry to thread hi-jack. But what would you do just a cat-back twin 2.5'' exhaust with no resonator for a 2001 VU SS 5.7L for NAAF? shipped to Bathurst 2795?

Lukey is much better. As 'Not_An_Abba_Fan' said you get drone through your cabin when driving. I've got a Lukey Sports Exhaust (2 1/2") in my VT manual and it sound great (no extractors either).

I just got a redback system, after 1 week the paint is bubbled the whole way along the exhaust, touch it and the paint falls off, can't see it lasting long. Full stainless next time

holdenvt1998sa i went to seaton auto service on tapleys hill road near west lakes and i got a 2.5" redback exhaust for 360 installed with tips and no resonator. Dont bother asking him to install your extractors though if you have any coz he quoted $360 to install mine and thats way too much on my behalf!

I know this thread is a little old but Ive been looking in to this myself, not worth of its own post though.

Search "VT cat back" on ebay, click Holden and then on lowest price + shipping

cat back vt, Cars, Bikes, Boats, Commodore, Crewman items at low prices on eBay.com.au

$165 + $40 shipping to anywhere in Australia.

No welding or cutting required, comes in 2 parts that you bolt together. (probably have to cut your old exhaust with a hacksaw near the dif though)

Im thinking about one of these myself once I get the VT registered.
