    Default ecotec to ls1 or ls2 conversion?

    hey there i am thinking about changind my vx s pac from an ecotec with a 5 speed to a ls1 or ls2 with a 6 speed. has anyone done this conversion and is it relatively straight forward and cheap? thanks

    a lot of people have done it and recommend selling your 6 to get an 8 but getting the engine 6sp and all the parts would cost around 3-5k

    honestly dude,it would cost you more in the long run than it would just to go out & buy a vx ls1. think about it,vx s pac(yes,you already have but you still have to consider that as a cost) roughly $5000 for a good one,possibly more. ls1 & 6 speed with all wiring,computers,instrument cluster,mounts suspension etc at least another $6000. installation costs will be zero if you do it yourself but you still have to think of your time as money so thats another $1000 on the cheap. so thats $12000 for you to do a conversion. not cheap. sell your vx spac for the $5000 or more if you can get it,get some cash together say another $5000 & you may pick up a factory ls1 with 6 speed for that,saving you 2 grand & alot of headaches.
