    Exclamation Intermittent Ticking from LS1

First of all, hello everyone! Just bought myself a mint silver VX SS, and loving it! I've jumped ship from japanese cars (I've owned two 300zx's in the past 5 years) and now come to the v8 darkside :eyes:

Anyway, i have notice a somewhat concerning sound form my new car. the engine intermittently ticks. Its not on startup, or when the engine is cold, but after driving around for a while it will occassionally start making a fairly loud ticking noise which is proportional to engine RPM. It alwasy goes away withing about 30 seconds, but can be quite loud and embarassing!

I always beleive in DIYing, so any advice on waht it could be would be appreciated!

when was it last serviced?? how high are the km's? sometimes the oil viscosity(thickness of oil) is wrong causing engine ticking now & then. if this isnt the problem the only thing left is lifters, but its not common for these to cause problems. shoulda bought my car & you woulda had no probs, lol

serviced very recently, approx 2000kms ago. its only got 110000k's on the clock, but yeah im thinking of doing an oil change with a good 15w-50 oil and seeing if it makes a difference...

with an ls1 service should be about 5000kms from memory. try a different oil. to thick an oil & it doesnt reach all parts of the engine it should when it should which has been known to be a cause of ticking. one vehicle i had in the past was sold to me because it had a ticking noise. he tried doing a service, changed oil etc but it still did it. he took it to a mechanic & he told the previous owner that if you have done the oil thing its the lifters, this is how much etc. owner decided not to do this & sold it to me. i took it home, drained the oi while it was still hot,put an engine flush through it. put in 15/30 & after that no ticking at all ever again. wether this was a fluke,i dunno, even told the last owner about it & he wasnt happy. i ended up selling the car back to him of all things, lol
